Family & Partner Visas

Australian Family Visas

Australian family and partner visas are designed to allow Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens to sponsor their family members or partners to come and live in Australia. These visas enable family members and partners to reunite and live together in Australia. There are several types of family and partner visas available:

Partner Visas

These visas are for partners (spouses or de facto partners) of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. The Subclass 309 visa is a temporary visa that allows the partner to live and work in Australia until a decision is made on the Subclass 100 visa, which is a permanent visa.

This visa is for fiancés of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. It allows the fiancé to enter Australia and marry their sponsor within a specific timeframe.

Child and Dependent Visas

This visa is for dependent children of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. It allows the child to live in Australia permanently.

This visa is for children who have been adopted or are in the process of being adopted by Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

Parent Visas

This visa is for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who have been sponsored by their child.

These visas provide a faster processing pathway for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. They require a higher application fee.

This visa is for elderly relatives who are financially dependent on an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

This visa is for people whose only near relatives are living in Australia and are Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

Note

It’s important to note that each visa type has specific eligibility requirements and application processes. The processing times and requirements may vary, and some visas may have a cap on the number of places available each year. It’s recommended to thoroughly review the official Australian government website or consult with a registered migration agent to understand the options available and to ensure that you meet the criteria for the desired family or partner visa.
